(sad bath)

sometimes i just want to take a
sad bath
in a windowless room
no lights, no flickering candles
no fragrances nor bath bomb to effervesce

just me in my porcelain pool
held still in darkness by a lukewarm hug

and when thoughts bubble up, like
whether the wet streak on my cheek
is from the sadness i sit in or
the sadness that sits in me

i watch that question float for a moment
before pulling the plug
and letting it all drain
